I have an idea that could possibly help narrow down the file needed for the 3.60 PSN access. Im not sure if its possible or easy to do but i will post it none the less. If someone Started up their PS3 for the first time in a day and tried to sign into PSN (on 3.55 so it looks for the correct key or w/e it is or on 3.60 so it will be successfull) and record the time you signed it (or attempted) then remove the Hard Drive from your PS3 and plug it into your computer (obvs you need the right connection) and look for files that were modified/used around that time?
Is something like that possible? Or would they not be time stamped per say?
Sorry if this is a stupid idea or something :P

PS3 HDD's are encrypted and can't be connected to a computer.

Didnt someone just release something that broke the encryption?
Also can multiman see those files in its file manager? or are those kinda files hidden from such homebrew?

Good questions, now something i was curious about (atleast to get the new passphrase). When you're updating to a new firmware, does your crt's get refreshed or do they stay untouched ?

Might be able to change crt while being on 3.55, switch to 3.60 to check through charles the new passphrase ?

I'm not sure at all, just trying to find/learn things.

Wish i had knowledge to decrypt/sign stuff/make new cfw, i'd be releasing stuff as i don't care about sony suing me.

    1. The filesystem does not record access time.
    2. The key would be stored in flash, not the hard drive.

It's good that you're trying to help, but if you have no clue about these things then any theories you have about them are probably not worth looking into other than for your own learning. You are seriously underestimating the intelligence of the real PS3 hackers. Most likely they have a solution already, but are biding their time for whatever reasons, maybe they don't want you to have PSN access, or don't want Sony to patch it up quickly.

Yes, flashing firmware does overwrite them.

Signing in doesn't modify any files on the filesystem. There simply isn't any reason to modify anything just because you sign on, all the data is stored on server-side.

If it was this easy then it would have been broken ages ago already. And it isn't. I know you're trying to help, but if you have no knowledge of programming, encryption techniques and atleast rudimentary knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS and TCP/IP you most likely will not come up with anything the more experienced hackers haven't already come up with.

The encryption can be disabled at the firmware level - not undone at the drive level.

I'm sure someday we'll be able to decrypt ps3 hard drives, we're just not there yet.
