Seems like 1.4rc2 broke file permission setting[again]. It works perfectly in 1.3, so if you can get 1.3 working, that'd be ideal.
I'll give 1.3 another try tonight and post back with some results..
Well I had to enable my internet connection (with DNS) to get 1.3 working but risked it anyways... I was able to successfully copy and change permissions to 0400 but after a reboot the file was deleted by the system still. Looks like I'll be stuck copying the file over for the time being. I might try to do a compare between the registry I backed up and the registry that I currently have. Didn't someone write a C# program for modifying the registry? I do know how to program so maybe I'll give it a whirl doing a compare between the two and tracking down the PSN values and if it is possible to copy them over and maybe the system will accept my act file then. Thanks for the help. If anybody has any other ideas I'll be glad to test.
Maybe try one more time with no permissions for all groups on the file? If that still doesn't work, I guess the ps3/gameos must ignore the permissions on it. =(
Hello. I got a problem here: i have my old original 80Gb HDD, i make backup through PS3 system utility and restore it on new harddrive (3.55 OFW on it). But i don't created backup act.dat or xregistry (i does not know is that necessary). So, my DLC content didn't work. I assume if i connect old HDD to my PS3 he will be formatted in order to work? Can somebody tell me, how can i copy act and xregistry from my old hdd? Reactivate DLC through PSN is not an option, i attempted do it before and it returns 514 or 519 error.
Sorry for my english.
If your old drive is untouched you should be able to put it back into the same PS3 and it will boot. However, the act.dat will probably be gone from the old drive.
