I have a lot of purchases from my old ps3 slim and i have all the files and such. Will this work if its another PS3 but the same files and activiation info? I assume it would not work because its a different ps3 serial # and my account itself would not be there.
If it works in any PS3 then we've found a method for exploiting the protection. One could just create a program that swaps act.dats depending on the game one wants to play.

the way i did that was load the game from disc/HD. let the machine install the trophies, and create a new save. now exit the game and ftp over your copied save folder, and trophy folder. my sons toy story 3 game is the only one acting funny, it show the correct percentage(currently 93 or 96%), but all the trophies show the locked status. the rest of the games i have on there show the correct percentage and trophy that are already unlocked
So I did some digging into the copy of my old drive vs my new drive. The thing that jumped at me the most was the following file:
It had changed between the 'old' drive and the 'new' drive. I tried copying over the file from the previous image and no dice. There were some other files that were different- I am interested in the following files from the list attached: xRegistry.sys and the group of metadata_db files under the mms folder. I did find some interesting information though:
The following games can be run from non-jb mode WITHOUT the act.dat files present in /home/0000000X/exdata/:
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
Cellfactor: Cyberkinetic Wars
(NOT PixelJunk Shooter)
Age of Booty
3 on 3 NHL
(NOT 3 on 3 Madden)
Ragdoll KungFu Fighting launches then it says 'The game is corrupt, please re-install the game. Download and install the game from your download history in PS Store"
All of the above games were purchased through PSN via MULTIPLE PSN accounts. I have a load of other games which do not run properly- requiring activation before playing.
It seems the PARAM.SFO has nothing to do with 'allowing' the game to run. For example: .detuned is a PSN title requiring reactivation via PSN. I dropped the Peggle PARAM.SFO file in the .detuned folder and although it reported the correct size (~50mb) and background, the title showed Peggle and still required activation from the PSN store. I then tried the EBOOT.BIN file from Peggle on the title .detuned and it launched but then froze the console.
Moral of this entire post: if we can isolate the line(s) in eboot.bin that does not require the act.dat file we'll be in business. I'm going to try and compare the 3 PJ games to see what changed from Monsters/Eden to Shooter- I think that will be the easiest since they are all from the same developer. Also, maybe 3v3 NHL and Madden...
How would I go about getting Marvel Vs. Capcom from you...

I think the EBOOT.BIN is encrypted.
I only have Bomberman out of those listed titles.
I found the obvious difference between PJ Eden/Monsters and Shooter- there is a file called 'unlock.edat' in the USRDIR of Eden & Monsters while there is not one present for Shooter. The unlock.edat file contains a string like: "UP9000-NPUA80108_00-PJMONSTSFULL0001" I would assume to identify the title that is unlocked.
I wonder if all those demo like files have that. I have Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, but after one of my reformats early on to get Linux it erased the activation so I've never gotten it full again.
