Put in fake DNS info, a proxy server, or fake gateway. Any of these tricks will allow you to use your ps3 on your local network and won't send any info to Sony.
Anyone that pays attention to the posts knows that when connected to the internet it auto connects to the PSN servers without a log in. You do not need to log into PSN to send information to Sony over the internet. It is one of the little hidden actions your PS3 takes without your permission or knowlege that has really soured my opinion of Sony as of late. Consumers have privacy rights.
some routes / gateways have the option to grant / decline internet access for IP and / or MAC adress with rules like time and so on. simply add the mac Address of the PS3 to this and block it for 24/7. It works even if you use DHCP, because the MAC address doesnt change normally (of course you could modify it but this you will know for sure and persons doing this dont have the issue to know how to block Internet access for a specific device).
