Proxy Option on PS3

Hey all

my situtation is that im on a wifi connection at uni that has sonicwall installed that blocks certain sites, the ususal ****, gambling, etc but also gaming sites too.

the problem i have is that i cant access the PS store or download game updates as it comes up with a 403 error, as its blocked.

But i can sign in, play games etc.

i had a friend suggest using a proxy and add it to the network connection settings on the ps3 but every time i come up with an error 80028ea6

anyone have any idea what i could do?

Use the wifi-hotspot feature on a smartphone. Or, find a proxy that can make it through your uni's firewall via your computer.

im after downloading the black ops map pack, 1.6GB so its abit big for mobile broadband. What type of proxy will allow that? does that mean changing network setting on the pc?

im using ****psn at the min, as my internet goes through my laptop then to the ps3 via an ethernet cable so the second option u meantion is prob my best bet

Whatever proxy you're trying to use on the PS3, just type it in for your proxy settings in your web browser first. If it gets you to the internet/restricted sites, then change your settings back on your PC and set the proxy on your PS3

tried it, there software seems to know im using a proxy straight away, as in it knows by the way my settings are. Get a message up straight away saying blocked: use of a proxy
