Ok, getting pretty annoyed with this program. It ONLY works when there is no ethernet cable plugged in. I have tried both version, geohot and regular. This program does nothing but lockup my PS3 with a black screen when the ethernet cable is plugged in.

Take the ethernet plug out. Reboot ps3, open OPENPS3FTP - Works great!!! NO CABLE PLUGGED IN, so kinda makes it pointless to use.

Any other programs to let me write to dev flash via ftp?

Ok, i just let it sit there for about i dunno, 8 minutes? And it poped up.

So for anyone who thinks their ps3 black screen or locked up using OPENFTP - Give it 5-10 min, i think it might depend on how much crap you have on your HDD cus i heard it chomping for a while..

    openps3ftp sucks my left nut!

blackbox 1.2 is wonderful, but only works when I completely disable my Kaspersky Internet security (no matter what FTP client I use, detects blackbox as a type of network attack and no way to add specific exception).

FTP server built into MULTIMAN 1.16+ is my favorite. It is the least buggy of the three! It is however not quite as fast as blackbox (but the speed difference is minimal)!

In conclusion, I now only have multiman installed!! no need for anything else really for me... But if blackbox works for you, then great! openps3ftp blows (versions 1.2 and 1.3)!!! crashes, locks up, freezes ps3, causes corrupt data all over XMB.. and just generally pisses me off really bad! lol

hope this info helps you! also.. if you don't see dev_blind in your ftp client... hit F5 or refresh!

The cause of the lock up or black screen in version 1.3 is the IP retrieval method (it requires an internet connection). This has been fixed in version 1.4.

For me, OpenPS3FTP never crashed, locked up, froze, or corrupted any data. You are doing it wrong.

Be content that it is open source and that it is being actively maintained. Also please do know that I am still learning C (this is my first actual C program) and bugs will occur, but I learn from my code and mistakes.

You really need to acknowledge the time and effort put into OpenPS3FTP.

Sure, it may not work for you - but why would you have to give such negative feedback? Just use whatever works for you and shut up if you have such things to say.

Jjolano, if you release something you really should also be prepared for the usual internet trolls. Just embrace the negative feedback and mentally remove all the unneeded details. After all, all feedback is important, no matter if it is negative or positive. Just grow a thicker skin and ignore what has nothing to do with you or your apps, that's what we all as developers have had to come to terms with. Hang in there and keep up the good work

As for OpenPS3FTP itself: there is some error with logging in. I just tried it on my own PS3 and the login process just stalled every time, and then when I tried to shut the app down my PS3 rebooted. Memory leak somewhere maybe? It's apparently rather rare though, I couldn't make it do the same after it had rebooted and seemingly works just fine right now.

A feature suggestion: Add a "Press 'O' (Circle) to exit." at the bottom of the screen. It'd be 4 less button presses than going through the PS button and 'Exit game.'

I do apologize for hurting your feelings! I know how it is to take pride in something that you work hard on. My intent was never to belittle your or your program... But the facts are. I have tried your program multiple times each time a new version comes out. tried on three diff ps3 machines (and multiple routers and ftp clients), and NEVER once got it to work properly without crashing or making corrupt data! NOT EVEN ONCE!... EVER!.. so excuse me for my negative feedback. Maybe I can help you troubleshoot the problem, but its hard when it only takes 20 seconds to crash!

I would love to use your program.. Its open source! I do not have c programming skills like you so I can't fix it for ya! So stop calling me a troll and telling me I am doing something wrong., and instead and whining.. FIX it! then you wont have to hear people bitchin like me! but in all sincerity, I do apologize if you thought my rude comments were directed towards you personally... because they weren't and aren't!

UPDATE: did some thinking and troubleshooting because I felt bad for knocking your work. I think I have isolated the problem.. In all test instances, I believe I had router set to have a DHCP reservation for my PS3 mac address, giving it the same IP every time (192.168.20.136)... When I disable the reservation and let the DHCP assign random IP.. it works. you said I was doing something wrong;however, This is a common network configuration for ps3 to have static IP within router's subnet. this issue should be addressed.

So there! instead of being a whiny bitch... I found and isolated the problem! I have done my duty to inform you. still think I am a troll?

I don't know what are you talking about. It works great for me, no problems at all! Filezilla or WinSCP, it's great.
