    It's actually pretty good.

Most important thing in getting it to work is to set your PS3 connection settings to AUTOMATIC.

Xlink Kai has nothing to do with PSN. Sony doesn't have access to your details on Xlink Kai or anything and thus you're perfectly safe there.

I spent over 4 hrs 2day to try to get this to work with black ops but didnt work.

    My Setup:
    PS3 160gb Slim - Kmeaw 3.55 cfw
    Multiman 1.15.05
Internet connection (tired both wireless and wired)
PC/Laptop (Wireless on windows 7 laptop, wired Windows XP desktop)

I first tried the latest 7.4 version of the software from xlink website. then tried xlink 7.3.1.7 uploaded from a member on xlink.

Attempts on PS3 Wireless & XP wired
    1) I logged into xlink 7.4 on XP (wired)
    2) turned on PS3 (wireless)
    3) tested connection (did not get dns error)
3a) repeated steps 1-3 with various different wireless internet setups on ps3 (static info all and partial as well as all auto)
    4) used multiman to load Black Ops.
    5) checked xlink diagnostics and connection to ps3 was failed.

Attempts on PS3 Wireless & Windows 7 wireless
    1) I logged into xlink 7.4 on Windows 7 (wired)
    2) turned on PS3 (wireless)
    3) tested connection (did not get dns error)
3a) repeated steps 1-3 with various different wireless internet setups on ps3 (static info all and partial as well as all auto)
    4) used multiman to load Black Ops.
    5) checked xlink diagnostics and connection to ps3 was failed.

Attempts on PS3 Wired & XP wired
    1) I logged into xlink 7.4 on XP (wired)
    2) turned on PS3 (wireless)
    3) tested connection (got DNS error)
    4) used multiman to load Black Ops.
    5) checked xlink diagnostics and connection to ps3 was failed.

Attempts on PS3 Wired & XP wired
    1) I logged into xlink 7.3.1.7 on XP (wired)
    2) turned on PS3 (wireless)
    3) tested connection (got DNS error)
    4) checked xlink diagnostics and connection to ps3 was purple (did not say configured successfully still).
    5) Loaded Black ops from multiman
    6) checked Zombie mode lan party to join but no games.
    7) Created Zombie mode lan party and asked people on xlink to join and no1 saw my hosted game.
    8) tried steps 6-7 in multiplayer lan party mode but still nothing.

The last attempt was my most successful because at least i had gotten my ps3 to be recognized and it wasnt red. I even port-forwarded port 30000 to my laptop and pc before each corresponding try using UDP as stated in the guide, but still nothing.

I am getting really frustrated now. I feel that a server based PSN alternative like xlink is best in terms of minimal lag and such but this isnt working for me. I have no idea what else to do.

You can also try this if your having problem or not liking this performance of an xlink kai. http://psx-scene.com/forums/f189/xbs...ing-ps3-69991/ (XBSlink - Working with PS3)

You have to use a wired connection between PS3 and PC, it doesn't matter for PC <-> internet.

Wait what? have a ethernet cable run from ps3 to pc?

That is not stated in the guides. also i spoke to people in xlink chat and none of them had the ps3 to pc ethernet cable setup. They all had the setup i had on my last attempt.

    This doesnt make any sense.
