Config
Requirements-
Router
Ps3 wired
pc Wired
The least troublesome and fastest way to get online is through the use of a router. Router's can attach consoles to a home network the instant they are turned on and provide ample security with the majority of routers containing in-built hardware firewalls. If you discover that your router's firewall is blocking traffic from other Kai users, you will need to perform a port-forward.
The port you need to forward is 30000 to your pc's ip through your router udp and tcp or both if your router has te option
but I have a linksys and it automaticly worked
okay to get this to work you need xlink XLinkKai-7.3.1.7-win32.zip
Which I've attached
Okay so This is what I did...
1st start xlink kai
2nd you wont see any interface especcially in windows 7
(To fix this go to your program files folder C:\Program Files\XLink Kai and in that folder right click go to properties Compatability and chaneg them all to "run this program in compatability" for Windows XP Sp3..
3rd click on KaiConfig in the folder C:\Program Files\XLink Kai and enter your unsername and password you created at the xlink website here (XLink Kai: Evolution VII. Global Network Gaming.)
4th Start Kai
5th Turn off ps3 because i know you guys will have it on lol
6th start Kai then turn on ps3 this order is important , then go back to the folder C:\Program Files\XLink Kai and click KaiUi if the control panel does not come up .
7th you should see the box with the globe magnifiying glass and folder in it click the globe then the folder to see if your ps3 was configured correctly you may have to click the folder twice it has two pages of info .
8th - start the game you want to play and go into lan match
The final step---- is to check whether 'Network Reachable' reports as 'Yes' or 'Not yet..'. (you must press the icon, then the icon). If it remains as 'Not yet..', there is communication being blocked that will prevent you from playing on Kai. This can be due to either a hardware firewall in your router, a software firewall installed on your computer, or a incorrect / missing port-forward. If you have a hardware firewall, ensure you have correctly port-forwarded.
Then go to game lobby and have FUN!!!!!!!!
UPDATE-Also I cant get the xlink chat to work but people can still join if you host or if they are hosting you can join
Update-some linksys and all Dlink router's require the pc's static ip to be setup and dont use gia manager the manager turns off the internet when launched causing the configuration to go bad
fix-xlink stuck on downloading contacts
uninstall Xlink from your computer, and then go to your AppData folder (should be in "Documents and Settings-->[User Name]" and somewhere around there on windows XP, or under "Users" in Vista/7). Delete whatever Xlink Kai folders/files you see there under the "Roaming category. The easiest way to do this is probably to just do a search for Kai and windows will show you where everything is. Just delete those folders, uninstall, and start over. Then your contacts chat and arena mode should work again this should only be appyled if you had already connected before and played
