SO I just picked up a 500 GB Internal, all the specs will work with the system. My question here is if I install the internal, will it ask me to upgrade to 3.56 upon formatting the disk?
Also, if I am on 3.56, is there any way to downgrade back to 3.55? I remember having to flash the OFW 3.55 prior to loading up KMEAW, yet I see all of these posts on whether or not 3.56 systems have been shipped out yet. I'm wondering, if one is at 3.56, the OFW 3.55 flash wont work?

My god man, do some research. If you're on 3.56 there is no more CFW for you (maybe ever). Regardless of what firmware you're on, when you upgrade your HDD, you'll have to provide the firmware that is currently installed on your PS3 on a USB thumbdrive (if you have a 16MB NOR system). If you have a 256MB NAND console, just install the HDD and the PS3 will do the rest.

Just asking a question, it's not like I was late for the A/V club meeting or anything. Saw a bunch of threads on here devoted to installing a new hard drive, but none about whether or not an update was needed. Hope you managed to wipe away another couple days off your traumatic high school experience through attempting to belittle someone besides yourself for a change.
