Sorry for the offtopic but I would also like to say this:
The solution to kill piracy is to drop prices from 60 to 30 dollars (half), and I'm sure they will make more money if they do that. Droping prices makes games accesible to lot lot lot of people who can't afford in just "SIMPLE VIDEOGAMES!" because their money is used for needs, such as food and clothes which really worth and are needed, and I include myself. I know they're bluray, and they take lots of years of developing and work but this should change, and very soon blurays will cost nothing. .

Dunno if that will stop piracy, it could slow it down though,i mean, i would love to be able to get NFS Shift 2 and MK9 for only $60+ tax...but I don't see that happening...DS games are only $29 and people pirated the crap out of them. Blu-Ray doesn't matter really, Xbox360 games are still $59.99....

The thing is mate, videogames are what we call "a luxury" -- You don't complain about the cost of truffles do you? Or go to the store and steal truffles just because you think they're too expensive? I'm not saying you in specific, just saying that games are considered a luxury item and if you can't afford them...... well, then you can't afford them.

I admit games are getting a lot more expensive these days, what with the ever-increasing budgets each one commands, but still --- that's just the way it is. The ONLY company I really get pissed at is Valve and their absolute horse shit mark-up on games sold in Europe.

You are absolutely right. This has gone way OT now. Gist of the matter is: until someone cracks NPDRM and EDAT (which is very unlikely it would be released by any homebrew dev, since it would lead directly - and only - to piracy) then there's nothing you can do to play the MK demo. Just buy the game when it comes out.... and hope Sony don't use this PSN-auth model for any more demos, or god forbid full games either.

But, can you explain how the leaked, 'cracked' demos of Ghostbusters and WWE All stars are possible?

Don't quote me on this, I'm not sure if this is right.. But there are some demo's that require activation through PSN, and thats a per console/per-user specific. Some demo's (most to my knowledge) don't require such things.

I would imagine that the package would need to be decrypted and patched to work on any console, but PSN stuff needs the NPDRM keys..

How, in the seven goddamn layers of Satan's Foreskin, is a discussion devolving into game costs and piracy and the merits/demerits therein, considered "on topic" in regards to the free MK9 demo requiring PSN to activate it? It's not. At all. In any stretch of imagination. So yeah, you were done discussing it

Now, in regards to Ghostbusters and WWE; Whoever said they were cracked and do either of those demand that you sign into PSN before playing them? Mortal Kombat IX did. Neither of those do, to my knowledge. Not all demos/trials from PSN require authentication to use, in fact the first we heard of was MK9. As a general rule, you can download any demo/trial .PKG and it will run fine on machines without PSN -- MK9 was an exception. Since it requires authentication (RIF/EDAT) from a legitimate PSN account, there was no way of playing it without that -- until, like I said, someone devises a way to remove the RIF/EDAT checking, which I doubt will happen any time soon since it directly influences and enables piracy of PSN Arcade titles.

Neither of those demos require PSN authentication. If they did, then the NFO would have stated.
