I am still watching netflix on 3.55 firmware. –
After Sony updated the firmware to 3.56, I stayed on Geohot's 3.55 firmware. When starting up the Netflix app from the XMB, the PlayStation told me to sign in and update to new firmware. I said yes to signing in but then immediately canceled the sign in. Netflix was still loading in the background. After doing this a couple times, the Netflix menu pops up and works fine. Since this means that you do not need to be connected to PSN for Netflix to work, is it possible for some sort of permanent workaround to be developed?
thats cause you only need to be connected to the internet for netflix to function, being signed into psn is different from your ps3 being connected to the internet, that is why when you are not on psn you can still use the web browser and ftp features
Hmmmm doesn't work for me? I really hope something gets sorted as Netflix and the ability to buy dlc is all I need from Sony.

Back online thanks to Primee for the legit PSID!!
Actually, Netflix requires that you be connected to the PSN to even use it. If you ever log out from the PSN it tells you that you must be signed into the PSN to use it. The old disc based NetFlix didn't require you to be on PSN to use it, after new version that came with 3.50 showed up, it was.

You can't use the disc after you have had the app installed.
I start the app and let the "progress bar" do its thing while I wait with the PSN sign in overlayed on top of it. I then click to sign in. It says that I have to update firmware. I then click "O" to back up. I did this a few times. Then I was eventually able to "back up" into the menu. I hope that helps.

tried the method OP said and had no success thus far. yes if someone can develop a pkg to bypass the psn function and get netflix you will be da man
Actually you can't use the disc anymore no matter what. They stopped supporting it a month after the app was released.
