How can I know if my PS3 is PSN Banned without updating?

Dont update it, sell it/swap it for an already updated box

. Im sure there would be a few of people in your area that would be keen to swap and give a bit of cash your way.

ok seriously, by not updating you are theoretically banning yourself from PSN, but saying that OP asked if there was any way to tell if he was banned. solution use a computer to sign on to PSN, if your account's not banned you should be able to, as for the console hard to tell, until someone figures out how to get consoles back on

I'm not joking, cs actually told me 2 of my ps3 got banned (have 5 ps3)

I dont think Sony has banned any PS3s yet (widespread that is).
