EDIT: Tried the exact same thing on my Windows 7 PC, which has an IP Address of 192.168.1.4, so I changed my Ubuntu hosts file to point to it, and did the exact same Charles config, but this time IT WORKED!

I've been following the guide below, and all has been setup well.
Simpler Guide To Access PSN on 3.55 By psn (With Pictures) - PS3Crunch

Don't know if this will help, but
DNS is Running on my Ubuntu PC, IP:192.168.1.20
Charles running on my Windows XP PC: IP: 192.168.1.7

Basically I have FOLLOWED the GUIDE CORRECTLY.

I tested my PS3 on the connection test, and everything works, but PSN.
    When it finished saying failed.

Charles comes up with a popup saying the following:

Sorry if I'm a noob, it's just that I don't seem why I am getting this, and a google search has not helped me.

Did you replace the certificate file in /dev_rwflash/ in your PS3?
Installing the certificate on your PS3

    1) Go to: C:\Program Files\Charles\docs
    2) Copy charles-proxy-ssl-proxying-certificate.crt somewhere and rename to CA24.cer (!!!!!!!!!!!!!FILE EXTENSION NEEDS TO BE CER AND NOT CRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
    3) Using AsbestOS Installer or mount_alejandro (does not work on 3.55) to make dev_flash writable, put this file and overwrite the existing in dev_rwflash/data/cert
3.1) Run AsbestOS Installer (takes a while)
    3.2) Press X when prompted
3.3) Run any filemanager and there will be a new mount called dev_rwflash
    4)REBOOT YOUR PS3

    Yeah I did all that.
Dunno why, but it had a problem with my Windows XP, maybe it's because it's the pirated edition, all edited and stuff, so sometimes programs don't work well on it.

Decided to test on my Windows 7 PC, so I installed charles, and just changed my Ubuntu hosts file to point to the PC, changed PS3 proxy settings to Windows 7 PC, and it all worked well.

I didn't need to copy the charles thing again, as I had already done that previously.

    Thanks for the help though.

If it refuses to let you sign in again all you need to do is sign in then keep an eye on charles wait for the cert does not exist box to come up and click ok on any boxes that come up before your psn sign in errors out and you will sign in.
