f**kPsn with Ubuntu? –
03-10-2011,11:58 AM
Hi
I'm trying to get f**kPSN working with my Ubuntu. I followed this steps:
Using under Linux:
1: Download source code
2: Install required gems with: gem install rubydns rainbow
3: Launch ****Psn: sudo ./****Psn.rb
when i first tried the second step, my terminal said something like there are two packages that contains "gem", there where two versions of rubydns, in installed them with apt-get.
after that the second stept seemed to work, but when i try the 3. step i get this message:
/usr/bin/env: ruby: File not found
can you tell me what i have to do?

Sounds like you don't have Ruby installed. Check for a ruby package w/ the graphical installer or search for the appropriate package for your version of Ubuntu.

i found a .deb file for f**kpsn 0.6 here: Red Squirrel's Home Page
it shows the same things like on windows, but my ps3 tells me that there is a DNS error
the ip is correct...

Looks like ruby is not installed or in your $PATH.

hi mods..
the threat titled (in this section)
f**kPsn with Ubuntu?
im interetsed to see if this has been resolved as i use linux as well as windows.
but when i try to open the thread i get a screen with the following message
The URL was redirected to http://psx-scene.com/forums/f189/f**kpsn-ubuntu-83038/. Please click the link to go there.
Generated by Opera.
It seems the thread was going to be moved, but it failed??
I think personally its in the correct place as its regarding online gaming, rather than linux section as this is not talking about linux on px3 (if that was the reason for attempting to relocate it)
anyway, thats none of by business, would just like to continue to follow the thread..
cheers

Thread link works fine for me I have now merged your new thread into the existing one you were looking for which was just four threads below in the ps3 online gaming section

I struggled to get f**kpns working with ubuntu for about an hour the other night, and I think I had the same problems you're having. What helped me fix it was following the youtube video by chrisTV (I think that's it...there was a link on the f**kpsn page). The video is for the windows version, but it's mostly the same info as far as setting up the connection is concerned.
What finally fixed things for me, if I remember right:
1. I set my ps3's IP address to 192.168.2.250 The "192," "168," and "2" numbers could be different for you, depending on your router, I think, but the video recommended that the fourth number be something between 200 and 255 or so. He gave some explanation for this.
2. I set the primary dns to my computer's IP address
3. I set the secondary dns to my router's IP. Some people said that using your router's IP for the secondary wouldn't work, but others disagreed.
After doing this, I was finally able to run the ruby script, but then it gave me the error talked about on the f**kpsn guide you're looking at, where it talks about ports already being in use. I figured out that Deluge was taking the ports needed. I just restarted my computer, tried the script again, and it worked from there.
Sorry if this doesn't solve your problem. It frustrated me for awhile.
