Can I backup Trophies without PSN ?

Hi All,

Last time I did a format and restore of PS3 I lost all my trophies, not realizing that they weren't part of the game save.

After searching all I can find is to sync with, PSN.

I don't have PS3 connected to PSN as it is no longer available (without messing with certificates etc).

1. Is there a way I can back up my current trophies by FTP'ing in to PS3 and copying something over.

2. If so, is there any requirements for when transferring back, example, do all user accounts need to be exact same name as when backing up.

I have been looking around via FTP and found

/dev_hdd0/home/00000017/trophy
/dev_hdd0/home/00000018/trophy

I assume these are the 2 user accounts and their trophy locations...

So if I transfer these 2 folders over to PC and did a restore of PS3 and later put them back, would that do it, and all trophies would be transferred back to PS3.

Also will first user always be 00000017 and second user be 00000018, if not what would be the complication of say copying..

/dev_hdd0/home/00000017/trophy
to
/dev_hdd0/home/00000019/trophy

Would that cause issues.

I'll wait for others to chime in, but I dont think its possible man..

I think that when users have tried to FTP those back to their console after upgrading or whatever, that they run into issues with the trophies registering.

Unfortunately PSN has been the only luck I've had syncing, and I realize thats not the easiest option for you at the moment.

It would be a shame to lose all my progress towards trophies so far.

Its not that I wont go on PSN, its just that obviously I cant since DNS trick was blocked.

Just backup thoses files, then when you put them back, do a rebuild of database in recovery mode and they'll show up nicely!

Just done this a week ago when i swapped my 1TB HDD, worked like a charm!

Just out of interest, If I remove any of the folders in that backup, for games I no longer have and dont really care about the trophies, will that remove them from the list.

I was going ot say the same thing.. back up the dev_hdd0/home folder..

copy it to new HDD/PS3....

Rebuild Database and your all set...

I do not suggest removeing any trophies folders for the sake of it messing and possible currupting you PSN profile... (yes u have one even offline) u know your name that tells you your rank, how many type of trophies you have and soo on...

also the moment u resync online you would just end up getitng back the folder you delete any was....

Never tried, so i can't say for sure...

Your best bet would be to backup, format, then put them back in, rebuild database, then once you're sure they are there, try to remove one of them and rebuild again, if it works then delete them all, if not, just reformat and reput all of them in...

I see u guys mention that one need to go in to recovery mode after copying back the trophys.... but how does one to that?
And how to rebuild the database?
