Is it possible for a program to be made that temporary disables all access to the PSN? I'm just a bit worried that they will be able to ban even if you can't connect to the PSN - just trying to could initiate the ban.

Right now I'm just using my PS3 through my laptop, but I have internet sharing turned off (so I should still be able to FTP, but not connect to the internet). While this should work for now, I'm still a bit wary about accidentally connecting.

Just use OpenDNS and block all Sony servers. Problem solved.

Yeah but I would like to keep an FTP connection.

I guess blocking Sony servers is the best method.

You could just scramble the DNS settings, or make them something like 127.0.0.1

So if we don't log in to PSN till the banwave is over, we just might be able to still connect to PSN in the future?

Do we even know if it's a "ban wave"? Perhaps it's a pick and choose ban rather than blasting multiple users all at once.

Well, I haven't even done the CER hack yet, I haven't connected since 3.56 was released.

But since it seems as if they are giving us a "last chance," I'm thinking if we stay offline now, if we ever decided to leave CFW and go to OFW, then we could reformat first and then (hopefully) upgrade without risk of ban.

You might aswell go down fighting and spend of much time playing online while you can.

Who knows, maybe one day someone will come up with a software that will somehow let us connect to PSN on CFW.

You'd think this kind of news would put an end to questions like "will there be a cfw 3.56"
"can we go on psn yet".

Guys are you serious? You need another PS3 if you want to go online. The Ban wave will never be over. What makes you think they'll only ban people for a week? This is the nail in the coffin. If you still want to go on PSN on a modded console go ahead, your account/console will banned the next day.
