Anybody know what port game patches use? I blocked the PSN already but whenever I am in the middle of a game, the game updata pops up saying there is version 1.03 and such and tries to make me update. It does this like every 10 minutes.

Edit the PARAM.SFO in the game data folder to reflect the patch version, no more nag screen asking to update. But why not just update?

thats for firmware updates, he his talking about game updates that modify the game itself, and no there no way to get rid of that prompt, what i do is just disable the internet connection on my ps3 and play the game that way.

No, he means edit the patch version not the required fw version. It works.
When Black ops patches came out they just caused problems, so some of us some edited the param.sfo to say we had the latest version, so we could play online, and not get bugged by the update.
STOP! Before you ask questions... READ the first post! RTFFP = Read The F*cking First Post
Yes, A 3.55 "jb" (cfw) is available, no >3.55 "jb" or cfw yet.
Yes, A 3.55 downgrade is available. But not to lower than stock firmware! (What it came with)
No >3.55 downgrade is out there yet.

I believe there were several users on a different forum claiming that the game update actually prevented them from loading up the backup game after the update. I know disabling the internet connection in the menu is an easy fix but all I am trying to do is maintain a constant connection with my media server, multiman server, and the internet browser without the game update intruding.

some updates break the ability to run a game discless (like NFS-Hot Pursuit), but i have not yet heard about an update that entirely breaks the ability to run a game on 3.55
