Alternative to Netflix
To quote: "To enjoy PlayOn, you just need a PC, a home network, and a Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Moxi HD DVR, NETGEAR Digital Entertainer Live, Roku (just added!) or another supported device. That's it. No extra cables or hardware to buy "
PlayOn also enables you to stream your personal videos, photos and music from your PC to your home entertainment center. It takes less than 3 minutes to set up – download it and see for yourself.
Now move onto the PS3. From your PS3’s video menu, click “Search for Media Servers,” and as long as your PC is on, your PS3 should recognize your computer as a new media server. From the PS3’s PlayOn menu you can access Netflix or Amazon VOD queues and watch instantly, but if you suddenly have the urge for a movie not already in queue you’ll have to head over to your PC to add it, rather than choosing it on the fly from your PS3. This is a lazy man’s complaint, but a complaint nonetheless.
This is what I personally use, and works like a charm, only downside, is there is no graphically interface.
It's ok but not as easy to use but all the other features more than make up for it and now they have a monthly plan for only $5 but man it is a network resource hog.
How is it not easy to use? Download the program on your computer, click it on PS3, under videos. That seems easy enough. A network resource hog? How do you figure, no more than netflix..I don't get any stuttering or anything, and I'm on wireless....
first stream to computer then to PS3, I see why

I'm a lifetime member of playon. The best thing about it is being able to stream Netflix, Pandora, Amazon, and a crapton of other stuff through scripts. Add the fact that you can access all the stuff you can from home via an iPhone or android phone remotely and it's a no brainer. I watch HBO at work through my playon server at home and it works great. Also, it's a transcoder for all your video files.
Have you ever used airvideo? I personally would love if some sort of client for the ps3 existed. It transcodes everything with very good quality, and requires no cpu usage unlike other programs.
Although it's only for idevices...
every video comes up corrupt data, what do I have not set right
