Backed up my copy of FFXIII on 3.41 and deleted it on 3.55. Space was not returned to internal HDD. Like Cerebral (gabba gabba hey ramones brother) I was not able to find the missing space using comgenie or ftp. I was also not able to recover space using the options in recovery console.
My questions are:
If I do a full format, will the space be returned? Losing files is not an issue, as I can ftp my saves to my PC.
If I downgrade to 3.41 and use the same BM, will I magically see the folder and be able to delete it?
Verification on these methods much appreciated.
This is the method I used to get my space back. I simply formatted the HDD, not in recovery menu, a FULL SYSTEM FORMAT from the XMB. Beforehand, I transferred my saves to my PC via FTP. I haven't found a method of restoring my saves yet, as I put them all back in the proper place, but I highly suspect a rebuild database will do the trick.
So does anyone know the actual cause of this? This only happens when you're deleting via managers right?
I imagine if all else fails then using a PC to format the drive would fix it.

I don't use any of the managers to load the games. I only have emulators installed and load the roms through FTP.
I deleting a few rom packs but it still I'm running out of space on the HDD. Once the roms were deleted the drive never regained the free space that the roms took up.
Same here, can someone please shed some light on this issue? It's really troubling. Why can't the free space be seen? Something to do with the gameos or some other underlying thing?

I noticed this as well but i found my problem. When i deleted the game from internal hdd using multiman then went to check space it only showed like 2gb recovered so i went in multiman file manager mode and noticed under the hdd0/game it still had the game files. So i deleted those and went and checked and the full 22 gb was recovered.
Yea that makes sense.
I used FlashFXP to transfer about 25+ gigs of MAME & FBA roms to the HDD, then I got hit with the message saying I had less than 500megs left on HDD.
I deleted the MAME roms giving me back most of my free space yet still got the message with each boot up.
When I went to transfer the roms back the to HDD all successfully transferred.
So it seems it's just the counter being off causing all the fuss. Not that big of deal but it would be nice to be able to keep an accurate count of how much free space we really have.
