Yes, I'd like to know more about which 2TB drive you used. I tried using a 3.5" 2TB WD "EARS" drive hooked up via SATA/eSATA, but after the PS3 formatted it, I could not get the PS3 to boot up with it. I've read similar stories about 2TB drives not working internally.

That isn't correct. The maximum formatted size according to the specs is 4TB not 2TB for fat32. You can address 4TB with a 32 address space. Hence the 32 in fat32.

i just ordered this today for mine. i had an 80GB, upgraded to 320GB, but backups require more space, and games run better/faster from internal.. soooo...
I read also that a 1TB 9.5mm will be out in march, Hitachi i believe.
