WD my passport external (help please!)
WD my passport external (help please!) –

This seemed to be the best place to ask... Sorry if I shouldve posted this elsewhere
I am kind of new to the jb scene. I have been using my stock 60 gb internal up to this point. Everytime I want to play different games, i've had to hook up the Ethernet cable and what not...
Anyways, I have a wd my passport 1tb USB 3.0/2.0. I added a 300 gb fat32 partition, and kept 700 gb as it came for pc use. I formatted it on windows 7 using eusus partition manager (or however you spell it).
On my ps3 I use 3.55 cfw kmeaw, and multiman 1.16.
I setup a "GAMES" folder in the root directory of the fat32 partition. And put a few games in that folder...
When I plug it into my ps3, multiman doesn't recognize the drive... I've tried changing the folder to gamez... The ps3 doesn't even mention an external hdd attched.
I've noticed that the little blue light on the ex hdd doesn't blink when plugged in, but it does start spinning (I can hear it held up to my ear).
Can anyone help? Ive read that USB 3.0 has problems on slim, but not regular ps3... Also saw that maybe deleting the factory installed data from the hdd may help, but if I do this will it ruin it for pc usage?? Also read that I should completely format the entire 1tb into fat 32.. And make a partition from that for pc usage.
Any help would be appreciated. Or if anyone had similar problems with this hdd, please advise how u fixed it, or what software/operating system u used to format

no no no !
trust me , the passport 3.0 will never work on ps3 slim !!! I have one already , never worked !! I even powered it externally from a powered USB hub ,it never worked and the side lamp never lits !!
however ,when I exchange it with a USB 2.0 passport , it worked fine !!
Slim doesn't accept passport 3.0 !!!

i agree with sid. the ps3 is probably trying to read from your primary partition (pc part) rather than the second. worth a try.

Yep... figures..Been trying all week n then an hour after posting I get it working.
FYI I don't have slim was just saying how I didn't think 3.0 was a known concern for regular ps 3
