IMHO, payloads should be kept intact as most as possible. That's the purpose of peek/poke, right? To leverage the "dirty job" to applications so they can patch memory themselves.
I think this (and maybe others) patch(es) could be implemented in the backup loader side, by using peek and poke calls to apply memory patches.
This way we ensure a cleaner payload (more stability) and applications become responsible for setting up everything.
Just my two cents, though...

Even if he was supporting your cause, there's no way he'd be explicit about it.
It would be stupid and would get him in trouble one way or another (whether it be among the homebrew scene or the legal scene)
He gave us peek poke. He's helping us with updates. For christ's sake he's even reviewing waninkoko's code.
There's not much more he can do to show that he's OBVIOUSLY helping us.
