Tutorial: How to Get COD: Black Ops working on v3.41 (Jailbroken PS3 Console)!

Hello Guys and Girls,

When COD: Black Ops finally arrived in the stores it was quickly found out that it required v3.50 to play!

JonahUK pointed out that when the EBOOT.BIN was viewed with a hex editor it showed it was compiled with the 3.40 SDK meaning it was debug update time!!!

copy the files for your region into your Blackops backup folder!! thats it!!!!!! DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you DON'T have BLES01031 or BLUS30591 or BLES01032 then you need to do the long way by following the tutorial posted below...

ADVANCED WAY:

Get this Mod Pack:

UPDATE INC NEW FILES TO GET MP WORKING 100%

Here is a tutorial to get the game working:

(make sure you backup all your files first incase you do something wrong)

Step One:

download the files and go to where you put your game and edit your pram.sfo to say 3.40 with PS3SFOEdit (included In pack) see step 4 for help.

***EXAMPLE OF WHERE YOU MAY HAVE PUT YOUR GAME***

dev_HDD0/GAME/LAUN12345/BL*****/PS3_GAME/HERE!

or

USB:/GAMEZ/BL*****/PS3_GAME/HERE

Step Two

Update the game to 1.02 using the retail update for your region or game id.
(note if you use the wrong update it will result in a black screen)

Step 3

after your update has finished, open comgenie or ftp and go to:
dev_hdd0/GAME/"Blackops"(BL*****)/USRDIR and put the eboot in the pack here

Step 4

go to
dev_hdd0/GAME/"Blackops"(BL******)/

and copy the sfo.pram file to your pc.

To edit the sfo file use the sfoeditor ive inc in my pack

click load and choose your PRAM.SFO file.

click Advanced Edit

where it says 3.5000 change this to say 3.4000 and press ok.

press save and save it to the desktop or somewhere you will be able to see it easy.

now either put it on a usb drive and copy it back with comgenie or ftp it back to the folder it came from.

REBOOT OR YOU WILL GET EITHER A ERROR OR BLACK SCREEN

Big thanks to tehreaper for testing this and confirming it working on external and internal HDD!

Also it seems that multiplayer freezes at the moment. but campaign and zombies works fine!

very easy to do, I have had my Black Ops game sitting on my table for a whole week while everyone else is busy Ops'ing away, considering upfrading to 3.5 just to play the game, and then THIS VERY EASY FIX to play it WOOOOOOOOO thanks again.

Goddamit my Blu-Ray drive is broke. Diskless works with the rest of my games

I think most of the issues is that members are not replacing the files in the correct directory in their PS3 internal or external HDD. Just find the files that are named the same as the patch files and replace them. How difficult is that? Search, Replace, next file--repeat until you are done.

you only need to post the question ONCE (unless the thread jumps 15-20 pages in a half hour). YES. Online works with this and the PSN fix.
