i didn't know where to post this, but since the point of this has to do with game fixing, i figured i'd ask here.

so the question is: what (if any) disassembler out there is capable of opening the EBOOT files for inspection? IDA? or is the only way to really look at them to dump from ps3 memory and have a look-see?

IDA works fine as long as you open a decrypted eboot (debug updates for example)

i tried to look at the debug version (and others) of 'scimitar_final.self' (which is really the updated EBOOT.BIN for ACB. but it's not recognizing it. if you open the file you see that theres a SCE signature, then a table of sorts, then an elf signature. if i take out the elf file (assuming the elf sig "7F454C46" is the start of the elf file), it still isn't recognized as anything really. it seems quite obvious just by looking at the raw file that it is compressed at a certain point so it's no surprise that it's unable to make sense of it. wasn't sure if it is simply compressed or encrypted, then compressed, in any case i guess there's no windows-side tool that can unpack these on the fly.

    EDIT:

nvm, i see on the front page 'Graf Chokolo Releases his SELF decrypter payload!' this is great news! now ppl with the proper setup will be able to dump the decrypted elfs from memory. what's that noise? oh! it's an avalanche coming! :O
