Are SysCalls the Cause for BlackScreen Games..?
Are SysCalls the Cause for BlackScreen Games..? –

Wondering what is the main cause for games that black screen are, when they are mounted to either: /app_home/PS3_GAME or to BDVD...?
For instance with both Prince of Persia 2008 & Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, they wont work by mounting them to either location = BlackScreens
But If you modify the /dev_bdvd/PS3_GAME/ strings in their EBOOT.BIN files to point to another location like /dev_hdd0/game/G/1/ they work if you copy the games USRDIR content files into that folder and then create an XMB Boot Container containing the modified EBOOT.BIN file.. and this even works while in JB & non JB modes.. but there seems to be a drawback that you cant update games though using this method..
So is it SysCalls from BM's that mount the PS3_GAME to the BDVD or app_home the reason that these games cant load properly? because they are using memory areas or something that that game needs to use..?

That is the general conclusion why these games don't work. It's the same reason the game didn't work on 3.41 JB.

I was hoping they would work on 3.55 CFW. No biggy of course with the XMB method.

Nothing against Math (legend). Next quote irrelevant to above lol.

so what would be the other possible solutions then to get these types of black screen games to work as if they were ran from /dev_bdvd/..?
cause the eboot.bin path hexing methods dont seem like a viable solution if the game needs to have updates or patches applied to it from PSN..

Mathieulh's method:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/you...thieulh-76693/ (You don’t need to patch lv2 to play backups - Says Mathieulh)
Otherwise you can get updates working with the XMB method just fine for some games, although that was probably debug updates only right?

but as for the updates working for XMB-Games I messed around with POP:TFS but wasn't sure if the update was being used or not though so IDK..?
I tried messing with the debug update too but it was giving me a headache trying to figure out how the game eboot interfaced with the debug update eboot, so I just put it aside..

Yes that seems to be the reason. It has to get worked around though. Think like you're a game developer for a minute and you'll get what im saying

If Level 2 is patched permanantly and not just in RAM, then would the problem cease? What about if the patch is edited to make sure the memory areas those games need is freed (but then could this make other games have issues?).
