Oh, and here's proof:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthre...=67306&page=19 (New Open-Source Backup Manager Released!)
talmagal originally created the code for background image support. See post #187. 2 posts below his, here's Jewrye saying it's his code. Then you'll see talmagal ask continuously for him to release his source code, which goes ignored by Jewrye. Then you see everytime talmagal makes a source change and posts his source, Jewrye incorporates and releases a new version. Well well well, what do we have here? Any big surprise? And, as other devs release more source, you see Jewrye comes out with an update 15 mins later with all the changes incorporated into his build, magically once again. It's been reflected in multiple threads across multiple news sites such as this one (look at the people complaining on ps3hax too). This kid is a thief. 'Nuff said.
Note: In my above link, you'll see that talmagal started posting changes even before that page, but you can also see that Jewrye posts the exact same updates just a few posts after talmagal everytime, with the same changes.
And if you read a few posts after that, you will see talmagal ask Jewrye how he made the graphics full screen. So if Jewrye stole talmagal's code, why would talmagal need to ask that question?
Everyone is copy and pasting all over the place... that's why its call OPEN...
Everyone should be posting the source, and everyone should be playing with it to make it better.

I didn't even bother to install this version, as he doesn't publish his code it means he's hiding something? Why would I trust it to install the pkg file then?

The icon and "startup sound" are absolutely TERRIBLE for this!
Thank God we can replace them without recompiling!
Funny how the app calls itself "sexy manager" in the XMB, but Open Manager once it's loaded.
Luckily, I've found that you can also replace the background pic without recompiling, so I was able to get rid of the nasty wood look, and go for something a little cleaner.
I think I am going to publish a "background template" or something, for those who would like to use their own images.
.... at some point I'm also re-compiling this to change the stupid name! (which will be released with source)
On a side note: I really question the maturity of the other. Calling others "whining babies" for requesting the source code is just lame. HE started out with Open Source software! This wouldn't exist at all if it were not for the openness of the original Open Manager code! GPL buddy, stick to it. This isn't really "your work" anyway... Some of it may be, but the actual hard work was completed before you decided to steal it and slap graphics on it.

Who ever (even remotely) said that Jewrie stole talmagal's code?
Sigh. I give up. I thought that BBS kids 20 years ago were bad, but this is whole new dimension...

You'd have to ask Jewrye what version he based his work on. I believe that r2 does indeed branch from 1.16, but I am not 100% certain.
** This is one of many reasons the source code and changelog should be released with the app **

I beleive that Hermes v3 is what fixes that. It's nothing to do with which open manager you use. By default Hermes v3 uses "patched mode". It would be intersting to test the orginal backup manger and see if F1 works with that now.

The person that I quoted.
Anyway, my point was, who cares.... its open and everyone should be working on it openly. Share your source code if you have it, so, if nothing else, people can learn to compile and code a bit...
btw, I'm old enough to have used gopher... and had 8" floppy disks.
