You don't seem to understand how FAT32 works. On a FAT32 drive you can have no single file larger then 4gb. The game itself can be 40gb with no single file larger then 4gb, so therefore it can be played on external. If a game has a file larger then 4gb, then the game needs to be installed on internal where this limitation doesn't exist. You can try Iris Manager which does have the option of caching split game files to the internal cache of the PS3 to become playable, but this is the only way (which is still experimental) to play split file games from an external drive.

MultiMan can only copy off of an NTFS drive to internal, you can't play games from an NTFS drive. Not to mention, the NTFS support is still experimental and a lot of users are having issues with it.

Try the NEW Iris Manager, it is at version 1.1 I believe. You might have better luck playing the games with Split Files!
