what if i use file spliter and splitt 7gb file into two pieces? and then move to external hdd? would this method work?
Nope...been there tried that, its internal or not at all, there is a compatibility list that shows you what games work, what games dont, and what hdd they need to be on in order to work. However, having an older unit like that with that small of an hdd, I would look in to putting a larger hdd in to the ps3, the info is out there, just gotta go find it. 20 gb is rough I'd have used that up after about 6 game installs, and I'll bet you got most of yours used up too. I didn't even know they made 20's, I thought 40 was as small as you could get. I've got a 160 and with 2 games on it, I'm already under 20 gb left from an unruly amount of game installs, I think a bigger internal would help out plenty.

Reason: more info
Just keep it on your internal drive, what I do is keep my favourite games on the internal and average games on external. That way you'll always have a good collection of games to play.
One day it will go into my attic and one day it will be taken down for my children/grand children to play - I don't want to give them crap games and they might not be able to find my external hard drive.
i was having problems when i but rdr on external and transfered it to the internal. then i did ftp and it worked great.
Hey does anyone have the original unmodified EBOOT and SFO for Red Dead Redemption BLUS30418? Thanks
You are a GOD thank you!!
please note on the megaupload description I wrote "red dead revolver" but it is in fact Redemption
Hm, I tried replacing my EBOOT and SFO with the ones you uploaded, but I got corrupted data in the XMB.
EDIT* Found out that the PARAM.SO you uploaded was invalid, I couldn't open it in any of the editors. So I used the on that I had (which has been modified) and I don't get corrupted data anymore, but the game won't start and returns to the XMB. I will try to FTP the game onto my internal drive and see how that works.
EDIT 2*: OK I transferred the game through FTP. After launching it in Gaia it fixed the EBOOT and it now works!
