Recent problems with graphics and reboots
Recent problems with graphics and reboots –

In about the past month I have had various issues with games that I have been playing. I have not tried it on games that have been directly on disc but I am using Madden 11 in order not to force me to use the Discless system. I started noticing this since I have been playing Dragon Age 2 so I do not know if it has something to do with that but let me explain.
1) Games freeze. Not after any certain time. Sometimes it takes forever to do it sometimes it is real quick.
2) I get issues with textures. They randomly turn colors. For example in NHL 11 (which I have been using since right after it came out) I had no problems until this started occurring but a players top jersey will become blue or I will see a big black spot on the middle of the rink or for example in DA2 I will see these types of lines coming from the people's heads.
3) I was seeing it but as per below I reinstalled Multiman but I was seeing a glitch in there where title names would spawn on top of eachother.
In order to remove this problem I deleted Multiman (I was running an old version and I was having these issues) and now it fixed #3 but I am still getting the glitched helmets and freezing etc.
I am thinking about the drastic action of deleting hermes and going back to original settings but I am having reservations as I am afraid of what restoring will put me at for a FW version (I have a original 60gb with a new 750gb HD in it) and reinstalling the whole thing. (I think I would have to do all the game updates again.
I guess what I'm asking about. Is this a known issue and if so what is the fix for it.

If your getting freezing+ texture issues (graphical issues) then that's an obvious indication of overheating. At least it sounds like it's overheating.
What firmware are you on? What version of MM are you using? What is your complete PS3 model?
These things are very critical in assisting you.
I need something like this in your next reply:
My firmware : 3.55 Kamew CFW
MM version : Absolute latest from MM thread
Full PS3 model : CECHK01 - PS3 Phat 80GB - NON BC.

It's an A01 Fat 60 with a 750 GB HD, 3.55 Kamew CFW with MM 2.0.2 that I did a clean install on. I looked up the info on overheating and I don't get the flashing red light that everyone seems to talk about that indicates that.

slightly off the original topic but to do with your comment...
i use my ps3 for pretty much everything it can do and have a laptop acting as a server for films/tv-shows which gets stupidly hot on its own
all my games are backed up onto an external as i'm paranoid they'll get sratched/broke (live in a shared house) and my films/music/tv are all streamed through the above mentioned laptop from another external for pretty much the same reason let alone the fact i'm a bit worried about how hot it gets
anyway, i havent experienced any real problems with over-heating in the ps3 (yet) but with all the stuff going around about some games causing it and what not i was just wondering is there much i can do to maybe reduce this?
seen a few of those usb powered fans etc and basically just wondered if they actually help that much and what anyone may suggest to do to make sure i have the ps3 running at a safe standard so to speak
i'm using a slim 120gb on kmeaw 3.55 with a 2tb seagate external attached
its not piracy if you dont own a sword or a parrot

The quickest way would be a fan mode and/or a simple thermal paste swap. Meaning you remove all the old thermal paste and apply new Arctic silver 5 or better thermal paste. That will go a long way to cut down heat. As Sony's thermal paste is absolute shit.

In all honesty just because it's not doing the flashing red light, doesn't mean it's not overheating. Sometimes the components can overheat without shutting the system down and erroring it. Same thing happens with the 360. My 360 for instance would freeze and show graphical artifacts to hint it was overheating but it took well over a month to finally RROD. The same thing can happen to any device including the PS3. Hell the same thing happens to my PC sometimes when it's really hot over here. I'll be playing a game and my GPU will start to overheat but won't shut my computer down. It's just enough to show visual warnings but not enough to completely engage the fail safe.
While I can't entirely 100% say it's overheating it does sound like it. But you can always get a second opinion, as I'm not 100% familiar with the hardware aspects of the PS3. I've never seen your problem on my PS3 or anyone else but that doesn't mean it's never happened before. It simply means that I don't have enough units to see the problem and I haven't scavenged the internet long enough.
Your best bet? It would be too replace the thermal paste of the GPU/CPU on the PS3 and see if that helps. Of course if you can do it yourself. If not get someone else to do it. Another suggestion would be to wait for someone else to reply.
But my IT knowledge gives me a good but not 100% indication it's overheating and may soon fail. Could I be wrong? Oh hell yea. But replacing the thermal paste won't screw it up any further, it can only help it. That is unless your inexperienced in that department.

Now I cannot disagree with the possibility of overheating but the fact ot the matter is I did a test with LA NOIR with is supposedly causing every ps3 to overheat and I have had no isues. But I still have the issues with specific games. Now I would assume that if I was having an overheating issue that I would have it during this program since it is a know n issue but I do not get it... My question is that is this known issue or should I go back to OFW and reinstall everything or does
anyone know about this issue?

Quite honestly this isn't a known issue. Which is why I told you what I did. My only advice is to try and reinstall OFW then CFW and see if it fixes anything. Maybe you corrupted the files when you were moving them over or something? IDK it's a stretch but worth a try.
But other then that I honestly haven't a clue on how to give you any more advice. Try the thermal paste. If not hopefully someone will more knowledge specifically with the PS3 hardware/software will come along and help you.

ur ps3 is probably about to go south, it has all the indications...also a 60gb ? almost all of them are on borrowed time or dead already.
either re paste re ball re flow it ect. that should help.
if ur not tech savy then get someone else to do it, or get another ps3.
or wait for it to completly fail, your choice.
