Quick Q regardings game DISCS that require 3.60+

is there a way to play game DISCS that require the firmware to be 3.60 and above?

ive heard of that program you can get to change the system firmware in the options to anything you want.

basiaclly im wanting to play white knight cronicles 2 off the disc and it requires 3.6 and im on 3.55.

also for future games like uncharted 3.

You are thinking of spoofing which is primarily used to stop your PS3 asking for updates when it is on an earlier firmware. Other tricks were used to allow connection to PSN again without asking for an update.
However there is no way to play latest discs apart from updating to the requisite firmware (in this case 3.6).

NO, spoofer is ONLY TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL UPDATES, nothing more nothing less

If i buy the original game Portal 2 i can't play the legit disc ? I'm spoofed to 3.60 , the required fw for this game

No, You can't. Portal 2 need 3.60. Spoof will not transform 3.55 to 3.60, right?

plus, just to make sure one DOES understand, imagine the firmware is a [literal] key and the game is a [literal] lock. say you have two keys with post-its on them, one labelled 5 and the other, 6. now, say the lock needs key #6. you CANNOT just switch post-its and use key #5 and pretend it's #6 even though the post-it says so.

that's pretty much what the spoofer does. just replaces the label, with NO OTHER CHANGES.

If the game has one of the funny 3.5000 updates - as long as you apply the game update before you play the disk AND DO NOT update the system from the PS3UPDAT.PUP on the disk - you are good to go also.
