Recently I changed the original hdd (120GB) from my PS3 slim.
Now I wanted to use this 120GB hdd for playable external for the PS3.
Bough a box for it and a special DeLock Y-Converter, which converts a normal USB-cable to a Y-cable (cause of power consumption).

Before I tested it I took a closer look on the hdd itself. It says it need 700mA which is quit much. I know that a singel 2.0 PC USB-port can provide 500mA, so you need the Y-converter. But how about the usb ports of the PS3 slim?

All I know is you use one of these things Sunwire USB 2.0 External SATA Enclosure Caddy For 2.5": Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
I never had to use more than 1 USB port to power the HDD, just try it. It either works or it doesn't
