Question about backing up a few NEW games

Here is my question, I think i understand how to backup a game with multiman, but here is my question(s). I have the new Tiger Woods 2012: The Masters and I want to back it up to the Internal/External doesnt matter I just installed a fresh 500gb hd. But here is my question i'm on kmeaw 3.55 and i want to play this game using the disc or after i back it up but can i put the game in the ps3 or will it automatically update my firmware because i thought that i read on here that Tiger Woods is on 3.56. Which brings me to my next question I also bought portal 2 to play (don't need to back up since it has to have 3.6 didn't know this before i bought it) so can i not play these games because they need a higher lever firmware; because wont they auto install the say once i put them in the drive?

EX. if i put in tiger will it start auto installing the 3.56 firmware from the disc? or 3.6 if i put in portal 2?

Tiger woods works with a eboot.bin/param.sfo fix, portal 2 will not work because of the 3.60 requirement. Search for both titles via the search tool on the left and you'll find more info about them.

No, installing a 3.56/3.60 game from Disc or Backup Copy will not auto install the new FW. But the new FW is usually included in the Disc (in Separate Folder) if you decide to update manually yourself (i.e if you no longer want to run Backup Games)

For Tiger Woods, you must backup the game and modify the eboot file to ver 3.55 (try using the eboot_FIX.exe program) and when you run/install the game through Multiman the first time, it will modify the param.sfo file for you also.

For Portal2, don't bother trying. It won't run on your CFW 3.55.

So if i understand you both correctly (like i said this is all new to me) to be able to play tiger woods I need to backup to the internal, then modify the eboot(which I will have to figure this out) then let MM update the param.sfo file when i go to run it, then after its param file is update I can run it.....ok so I WON'T have to worry about it updating my ps3CFW to 3.56 on its own. This is the main thing that i'm worried about because I just bought like 2 new (Portal 2, Thor) which i cant play these because if i read correctly on these forums they require 3.60 & 4 (Tiger, MLB the show 11, WWE Allstars, Move bundle) games from a buddy and I know they require the newer firmware since they are newer games. However I can play these 4 though if i read other forums correctly?

But for Portal 2 & Thor since it requires 3.60 firmware I'm out of luck playing this unless I want to update my CFW to 3.6 which i DO NOT want to do....Does all that sound correct?

Yes, correct.

Some 3.56 games may say they require 3.60 FW but internally they are really only 3.56 Games, so can still be modified to run on CFW 3.55.

But games like Portal 2 and Thor are true 3.60 games, so no luck there.

But to be safe when you backup any 3.56 (or 3.60 game for experimenting purposes), look for the PS3_UPDATE folder (if any) and delete it (Just as a precaution to prevent accidently using it and updating to OFW)

(btw for Tiger Woods 12, I don't have the game, but maybe you can also try backing up and running from External HD if you want)

what if you have a the latest FW spoof? can you still play the newer games on 3.55 CFW?

As long as they are not built with the 3.60 SDK. Thats the issue. the 3.55 doesn't have keys to 3.60 games, but only 3.55 and below. Some games eboots were changed just before release to 3.60 for security purposes, but the game is still encrypted in 3.55 keys. So yes, no matter the spoof, so long as its 3.55 or below keys, it will work.

then whats the point of a spoofed FW?
