Proper 3.41+ games on internal HDD i.e MOH
Proper 3.41+ games on internal HDD i.e MOH –
10-21-2010,01:56 AM
UPDATED: 22/10/2010
- Simple SFO process
- Different SFO Editor
- Gaia Manager v1.01 (modifies SFO to 3.41 at game launch)
- Open Manager 2.1e (will know if game needs to be patched and make all games 3.41 compatible unless required to)
Board Payload - Hermes v4b
Download OMA 2.1a/d/or e
Open Manager 2.1a - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7WBHGPHA
Open Manager 2.1d - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CBH6N1V0
Open Manager 2.1e - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PP6IRJMY
Gaia Manager v1.01 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YA0T8T8B
Note: Apparently Gaia Manager v1.01 will edit your games sfo file to system version 3.41 at game launch. So you can skip Step 2 if you choose so. DO NOT USE WITH KaKaRoTo's PL3 payload
Download permissionfix pkg
Permissionfix - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4PKWQ4GN
Download SFO EDITOR
PS3 System file editor - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VGNI8CNB
Step 1
On your PS3:
First, place the fixpermission.pkg and the OM v2.1.pkg on a usb. Now plug the usb into your PS3. Install OM v2.1 from the XMB via the "Install Package Files" icon.
Now that you've installed it, you've got to make sure your games are in the /OMAN46756 folder via FTP.
Next, go into "Install Package Files" on your XMB again and install permissionfix.pkg. After that is done, launch the permissionfix app.
Note: Screen might go black for a few seconds or sometimes minutes, wait till it takes you back to the xmb! this pkg fixes the aggressive mode the launcher tries to initiate when using patch mode
Step 2
On your PC:
Unrar the PS3SFOEDITOR, launch it, click "Load", select your games PARAM.SFO file. Next click "Advanced Edit" go to column #7 and right beside "PS3_SYSTEM_VER" is your games firmware version. Now double click on it and you will be able to edit the firmware to whatever you want it to be. Finally click "OK" to save changes.
Step 3
3.41+ Installation Example: MOH
Edit SFO in SFO Editor to fw 3.41 or less.
FTP the edited PARAM.SFO file back in to its original directory.
Launch OMA 2.1, enable patch by pressing L1, then load game.
At the XMB insert blu-ray disk and launch from there.
Then accept the 1.01 game patch update that pops up and it should download and install (trust me) to your "Game Data Utility" folder.
Note: Assuming you edited the SFO file of MOH correctly, you should not get the "You Must Update To PS3 Firmware 3.42 or 3.50" message. And if you do, DO NOT ACCEPT IT
Finally game will launch in a few seconds and install the "required" game data to your internal hdd.

If you read thru the posts...seems there are at least 6 proper ways...no one way seems to work for everyone. I tried many methods then devised my own thru random trial and error and got it working on my internal...never tried on external.

You're right, but after stressing over the matter for days ... I thought, I'd post one that actually works for most users. At least the ones who can use Hermes v4b.

I think one of the biggest problems is there are just way to many Payloads and Managers out there...enough to make your head spin. I wish developers would just join forces and put out just 1 or 2 different Managers.

Your post mentions "accepting the update". At the very least you should make it clear you are referring to the game update and not the firmware update (which some people were encountering). Also you cant accept said update unless you have an internet connection fully set up and many people dont (again to avoid the firmware update). Finally you should state where the PARAM.SFO is located.

Ummmm...if you are trying to say you need an internet connection for ANY reason for the Medal of Honor game to get it working...that is incorrect...not sure if thats what you were saying thou.

I made no mention of needing it. I simply said it cant be accepted unless an internet connection is fully set up. Guides IMHO should be idiot proof - this one is not, partially for that reason as it may cause some confusion.

With so many different payloads, devices, and Managers out there and everyone using something different I don't think it is possible to write an idiot proof guide at this point. This scene is a real nightmare...way, way to many methods out there..it is barely a month an a half old and I am already getting really sick of this scene, ready to scrap all my PS3's and go back exclusively to my 360's where everything works with absolutely nothing to due but put a disc in the drive.

In this instance it should be possible to write one, as he references his payload and manager of choice.
Anyway dont fret too much, because the scene is still in its infancy, the dynamic nature of such things are to be expected. Give it time to mature and hopefully things will settle down.

Alright sorry for the rushed tutorial I made last night. I've just rewritten it to an extent that everyone will be able to understand it hopefully. And thanks for the feedback by the way, and let me know if anything comes up.
