I have the Japanese version of Knights Contract, which requires 3.66. The US version though can be played on 3.55. Before I waste time FTPing things back and forth (it's 20GB) is it possible to switch the eboots, do I need to do some hex editing, or something more?
That is a good question actually. Not sure. There's an unzipped copy of the game on tpb, so you could download the eboot from that and try easily enough.
I THINK you can with some games as long as you change the game ID in the param.sfo to match the eboot you're trying to use.
Don't quote me on it, but i THINK it's possible..... im 99% sure i've seen it done with english versions of games, couldn't say for sure about Japanese versions.

Didnt work for me on front mission evolved. Japanese game got the 800 series error code after switching to US eboot and fixing PARAM.SFO in hex editor.
