Is it possible to load a game over LAN network? –
Hey all, I'm asking what the title says. Is it possible? Something like Open PS2 Loader but with PS3 games would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Some question here... I hope that something like Samba could be implemented soon (for movies with Showtime, games with mM, etc)
Well my question was if it was possible at all. I mean, if there is nothing that won't let us load a game over a SMB share or something.
I would like to know if this is possible also
Well this thread was brought back ... to answer your question sure .. anythings possible ... my guess is that it would have to be some pretty interesting codeing put into a manager .... to answer your next question I have read several posts that people state they are NOT working on it ... why ? I could only guess ..
why would u want to load the game through LAN anyway, usb2.0 is way faster. I wouldnt even want to imagine load times if someone was able to code an app to do this.
And im just guessing but OFW already has its standard coding and the devs only slightly alter this coding for whatever exploit they need to do. I am guessing there are no instructions set in place that can be exploited to allow games to load from LAN. FYI everything that CFW does was probably already coded into the software it just takes a dev to exploit that code...i doubt there is any code to exploit that would allow this. It would probably require building the OFW from scratch.
Just like in PS2, i remember people wanted a way to exit the game when running a game from the internal hdd because powering off the hdd when it was reading was not good for the hdd. It was explained there is no possible way to do it because ps2 games were never coded with an exit to the OS command so it could never be done.
Sorry but CFW is not magic, the devs are just exploiting existing code, it doesnt necesarrily mean they r writing new programming instructions, if someone could do that then we wouldnt need to exploit 3.60 keys
Im pretty sure u cant do dat wid OFw.....wid cfw not that sure but i think u can
It may come out, but it would be pointless. USB would be much better.
You guys are ridiculous. Max throughput I've seen on USB 2.0 (which is the type of ports the PS3 has) is ~35MB/s (or about 300Mb/s) which is about right with USB overhead (wikipedia .org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Transfer_rates). Our PS3s have gigabit ports, and I've seen throughput on my own home network exceed 100MB/s (or 800Mb/s) with gigabit equipment.
Is USB 2.0 faster than any wireless? Yes
Is USB 2.0 faster than 100 Megabit networks? Yes ~3x faster
Is USB 2.0 faster than Gigabit networks? No
Now, the next question would be how could it be implemented and compensate for network errors... I doubt the payoff would be worth the work for most devs.
