Ok so I grabbed a portal 2 fix from another site the other day and I am unable to get it working. I replace the eboot and the said sprx files - start the game and I get to it loading trophies and the save information and it brings up a fatal error message saying

"There has been a fatal error configuring Portal 2. You must quit game now and ensure that you have sufficient free hard disk space and your hard disk is not corrupt"

Here is a picture of the error - http://i.imgur.com/fCNix.jpg

No I do not have any of the updates installed - yes i have tried deleting the save file

So my question is: Has anyone else tried this fix and or had this problem? or has a fix that is working? or is this game just not working - even with the recent 3.60 keys?

Any info would be helpful! Thanks in advance

The fix works fine, it may be a problem with your HD or it could just be too full?

Nothing seems to be wrong with my HD - all other games and media play fine from it. And I have 10GB free on it - and the game does not require a game data install (so i read at least)

What region are you using ? and where did you get the fix that you are using from ?

Internal - The PS3 Backup Compatibility List says that the game should run fine from both internal and external.

For me the game loads up with the fixed eboot and sprx's - but I get that error right before it gets to the main menu.

Well good to know that its not only me.

The scene released patch "Portal.2.FW355.Patch.USA.PS3-PSFR33" does not work either and should be nuked - When launching the game with the patch it still brings up the " This game requires a higher firmware" notice.

PSFR33 released a hand full of patches the other day, wonder if they fail as well.

The self is encrypted with a klicense key, which when the eboot.bin loads the self it decrypts it. So the klicense key is in the eboot.bin. So once the eboot.bin is decrypted to the eboot.elf we can brute force search for the klicense key.

We then give this to scetool like this: (example is BCES00938 SOCOM: Special Forces)

    scetool -l 08727df80102030431c855b900000101 -d s4_g.self s4_g.elf

    It will then decrypt it.

Other example I brute forced is
    Portal 2 19089cbaf948487f9530832bf477b369

This is as far as I have got so far, we then need to re-encrypt it and put it back in the package file. Just like we do with the EBOOT.BIN.

Just thought I would share where I am up to.

The fix has several sprx files that need replaced as well as the EBOOT. (this was odd to me at first but I read some games do need sprx files pacthed/replaced)

The game locks up at that point because the sprx's that are being loaded at that time are not properly decrypted?
