Hello I am new here I hope that this is the right section. I was lucky enough to find a mod-able Playstation 3 at a pawnshop. I ripped LA Noire to my external HDD and patched the eboot so I could play on 3.55. Problem is when I start the game I get the usual 1.02 version update warning and I continue to get the version update warning about every 5 minutes during the game. This is very annoying because the game stops I have to cancel and then unpause the game. This is not the only game that i have had this problem. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I stop the update scree from popping up during game play. Thanks in advance.

usually you just edit the PARAM.SFO of the disc with any good SFO editor and change the version number to a high number like 40.00 but that one needed an update to work right? On that one you'll have to find where it installed the game data on your internal hard drive and edit the PARAM.SFO there to a high number. look in the dev_hdd0/game/gameid folder for that file. if you don't know it just open the SFO from the disc itself and it'll tell you what folder to look in

you could just go into system and disable internet connection while playing these games...that would be an easy way to get rid of the annoying update msg....seeing as it wouldnt' know of the update on startup

i just pull the ethernet and leave it out for this ps3. on occassion, i may do ftp and have to plug it back in but this way, neither myself or others mistakenly update ps3 f/w.

disabling the wireless/network adapter would work as a temporary solution. What you decide to do depends on what's easier for you. Personally I don't want to turn it on and off that's why I pointed you to the PARAM.SFO. It'd be a good idea to make a backup of the original in case we get a new custom firmware down the road and the new updates work again if you do decide to do it that way

Thanks for the responses. I turned off the internet because I have a few games that do this to me and it worked fine. Thanks again for everyone's help.
