multiMAN's LastGame.pkg as permanent a shortcut to a game!
multiMAN's LastGame.pkg as permanent a shortcut to a game! –

I have had this idea since a couple of weeks now. I don’t know if it is even feasible or not - i used my modest google-fu skills but could not come up with anything related to it. I really hope Dean reads this…would be obliged to have his thoughts/inputs.
The 'Last Game.pkg' that comes with multiMAN - can it be implemented as a permanent shortcut to one specific game backup? I'm sure this can be done by a few lines of code in multiMAN.
Here comes the fun part...is it possible to have multiple instances of 'LastGame.pkg' installed on the XMB, each of which can be made to point permanently to separate backups? The custom .pkgs (or something similar) could be generated using a PC application, or even better - on the fly from within multiMAN itself!
The whole idea is to have a launcher for every game backup there is in my PS3. This idea actually stemmed from my need to launch multiMAN every time I wanted to play, as my kid brother changes the ‘LastGame.pkg’ with his game - at least thrice a day. It is immensely irritating!

Only take's less than a minute to start multiMAN & load the game you want. & If you want the last game you play, Or the game you always play on the dashboard, Why not use a .pkg for that game so that its always on your dashboard ?

Why does it always has to come down to "don't be lazy, it is not that long for ME..." replies...?
when youngsters less that 10yrs old have to go in MM, click X, go to /app_home/..., then launch a game... there is ALWAYS the potential for screwups...?
Why not having an option that let everyone decide if they'd rather use xmb to launch games (without MM)? I am not even sure backups can always be made as pkg and work... Plus MM seems excellent in doing backups the right way.

Read my last post, Its for .pkg games that are on the dashboard (No need for multiMAN)
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/col...-2011-a-79937/
Has pretty little pictures of the game you install as .pkg to the dashboard so that your "10yr old" can play games no trouble at all without going into multiMAN.

I only make backups of games I own and these seem to be full game downloads... Aside from the legality of this, it would take me days to download the 30+ games I backup'd to my HD in pkg format.
Maybe I am missing something and you can help: is there a program that I can use that would take what backups I have on HD, then make a pkg for them ? This way I could install them and get what you are talking about straight from xmb...
PS: I searched forums/google but couldn't find something.
Thanks!!!

These aren't full game downloads. These are the packages that you can use to put the games on your XMB. It requires you to move files from your legitimate backup into specified folders so the package can execute the eboot.bin like it's a PSN title.

What i meant was to create a .pkg that will mount a game to BdDrive. That's it - the games still stay on my external HDD.

you are being unnecessarily rude here. I intend this tread to be a simple collection of thoughts and suggestions. Please do not go off on a tangent.

That part wasn't clear to me
(I am a newbie...)
So, if I have made a backup of a game in \hdd0\GAMES\BCES000000\USRDIR\
I need to:
move it to \hdd0\game\BCES000000\USRDIR\ (except the EBOOT.BIN)
install the pgk for that game
That's it?
Game backups also include stuff in BCES000000 also, should that be moved to the game\BCES000000\ also prior to install pkg?
Thanks for clarifying this, I feel smarter already...
