MGS4 crashes when start button is pressed

I am using a EU backup of MGS4 and i am still in act 1[not act 4]..
after getting gear from otacon in act 1 whenever i open menu[pressing start button]the game crashes to xmb..

Someone also had similar problem:

MGS4 problem (menu crashing, not act4)

Method 1
1. installed MGS4 from external to internal with OM 2.1g withOUT demo.dat
2. FTP'd the demo.dat file
Result:
-can't start MGS4 on Patch mode with OM2.1g.
-after you get the gear from Otacon in act1, whenever i open the menu, it freezes then crashes back to XMB (doesn't even get to the menu proper). I tried playing all the way to the first Gekko encounter and tried opening the menu after that, but it still crashes. (it gets to the menu but still crashes)

Method 2
1. installed MGS4 from external to internal with OM2.1g, WITH demo.dat. I split the files using OpenSplit v1.0
2. was able to install game data AND run MGS4 on patch mode
Result:
-menu freeze still happens. It gets to the menu all the time, BUT it freezes->crash->XMB before i can do anything in it.

I am using kmeaw 3.55 cfw with multiman 1.16.10

I'm using BLUS30109, US version with Kmeaw 3.55 and GAIA, works fine. Maybe you should try downloading that version
