Hey guys, I've successfully backed up a few of my games including MGS 4 (all backed to my internal HDD). I've been playing MGS 4 with absolutely no problems up until Act 4 after mission briefing and save prompt. Right before the PS1 MGS1 flashback/sequence occurs before you land on shadow moses island, the game crashes back to XMB. I've rebooted, loaded other games and reloaded MGS 4 to retry and still no luck. I'm assuming it has something to do with the PS1 MGS1 flashback, perhaps resolution change causes the crash? Thought I should bring it to everyone's attention as someone eventually will. Cheers for help.

Thanks for the info. I guess a temporary solution would be loading a savefile at the start of ACT4 (not like there is any important dialogue between the flashback and the start of ACT4).

I don't think so. We already know that all this "50GB games" is bullshit.

Well the game is already ripped and working, has been working fine for the first 3 out of 5 parts of the game!

anyhow, an update. Ok so far I have tried:

    - Started PS3 in dev mode/jailbreak, loaded saved game beginning of Act 4 with MGS 4 disc (disc booted normally from XMB, not with Backup Manager) = crash to xmb

    - Started PS3 in NORMAL mode, loaded saved game beginning of Act 4 with MGS 4 disc (disc booted normally from XMB, not with Backup Manager) = crash to xmb

Both of the above were attempted after deleting the Game Data that is initially installed before you start playing, which prompted a new initial install. Both attempts, the game prompted to reinstall the data related to that Act.

So I'm lost now, not sure what it could be. I'm thinking perhaps it's my TV/PS3 but I know for a fact I've played that MGS1 sequence on this TV with a previously owned PS3.

Please note that I went to shops and got another copy of MGS4 for these tests.

Found it, and it's 30GB. And FF13 is 41GB if you google it.

Hey I got the same problem! I have my own MGS4 and I backed it up using Backup Manager. It crashed when it's about showing ACT4.

I deleted all the MGS4 backup, installed data and everything related to MGS4 and started with the original bluray disc. It still didn't work.

So I don't think it has anything to do with the game disc.

I will try to delete the Backup Manager next time.

Cheers for adding to the thread buddy, and yes I have another person on another forum confirming the EXACT issue! Must be something to do with jailbreak / backup manager. Not much people are taking notice or caring much now but they will once they FINALLY get their precious copy of MGS 4 and come to beginning of Act 4 lol
