Every game is a world, so, making a pkg is not an exact process.
A pkg coud change its behavior only if you put a bd inside or not.
There are another selfs to modified also, but we have to wait till reach a complete and perfect pkg maker.
Modified param and eboot saved to the same folder than pkg(if you choose it) is only to take a look at. No functional purpose, just a copy to investigate if you are skilled enought.
Examples:
Frietz Chess is working in 355 modifying eboot only(simple edition).
Assassins Creed 1 is working in 355 without any modification. Just run the pkg and it will run the game from the already automatic installed files(all tested by author, not me)
ADVANCED edition will bring us new choises to make a pgk when v1.0 were finished.
Im waitting with you.

OK, I tried Assassin's Creed, making a pkg to run off external, but I just got a black screen. I couldn't open the menu you get by pressing the Playstation button on the controller so I had to shut off the PS3 by holding the power button.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it might just be best to wait for v1.0 to be released.

TOP SPIN 4 (BLUS30427)
worked for me I used method 3
here is the pkg I created with magic PKG1.0
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
Method 3: Without editión
With this method does not edit EBOOT.BIN, ie not change the installation path, just edit the PARAM.SFO.
To install the game for this method :
1.- Delete the game data you can have in your PS3 (this game).
2.- Install PKG created.
3.- Now, in the folder dev_hdd0/game into Id Game folder, into in USRDIR, and copy then content to the USRDIR folder (Game) , everything except the EBOOT.BIN.
4. Go to the XMB and launch the game
CHEERS!

Using a file manager copy game`s usrdir content, except eboot.bin to the similar folder mentioned in your ps3 hdd.

So, to make it clear. I had to copy the content of USRDIR from dev_hdd0/game/GAMEID to dev_hdd0/GAMES/GAMEID/USRDIR and overwrite exsisting files?

I dont know and doesnt matter WHERE you have the game, just copy its usrdir content but eboot.bin to the newly created usrdir.
If you have it twice in your hdd, can delete the "old" game if pkg works.
Try and post results, thanks.

I'd like to create some PKG of backup games to launch them directly on XMB,
but I got a problem using MagicPKG v1.0 and it seems caused by zlib1.dll?

Can you use this to turn PSN games into PKG's? I have all my paid PSN games, but of course with no access to PSN anymore I'd like to be able to remake the PKG's for them in case my PS3 dies.
Fileserve doesn't like me so I haven't been able to try yet (otherwise I wouldn't ask).
