So I upgraded to Kmeaw's 3.55 firmware. I went to this from 3.55 OFW. This went all fine as far as I can tell and from what the guides have said should happen.

I then installed lv.2patch .pkg and ran it. I then installed Rogero's Backup Manager and Blackbox FTP Server. Now, I FTPed backups (The GAMEID (BLU#######) folder and everything underneath it) to LUAN12345/GAMEZ (Atelier Rorona, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Naughty Bears).

Started up Atelier Rorona. Here, Rogero told me that the eboot.bin permissions were corrupted and asked if I wanted the program to fix it. Googled, couldn't find anything about this, so I went ahead and allowed it to fix it. It did, apparently, went back to XMB and booted it from XMB. Started to install, then said the install failed at 0%. I figured fixing the eboot may have messed it up, so I deleted it from the HDD to try again later.

Started up 3D Dot Game Heroes. Again, it said that the eboot permissions were corrupted and asked if I wanted to fix it. This time I said no. Went to XMB, booted it, black screen. From the black screen I could open my PS Home Menu and exit the game, so it didn't freeze (like some did later).

Started up Naughty Bears. eboot.bin permissions corrupted, no I do not want to fix them. To XMB, boot from XMB, and then frozen. Couldn't bring up a menu with the controller, I had to unplug the PS3 to turn it off.

Here, I decided to try out Multiman. Ran lvl2patch, froze. Turn off PS3, install lvl2patch .pkg again and ran it, this time it worked. Downloaded, and installed Multiman. Tried booting the games up.

Atelier Rorona was deleted and I hadn't FTPed it on, so that I didn't try.

3D Dot Game Heroes, Multiman didn't say anything about about any sort of permission corruption, just if I wanted to boot it without going to XMB. This time I did. Oh, frozen. Unplug PS3, turn back on.

Run lvl2patch, didn't freeze, didn't have to install it again. Worked. Ran 3D Dot Game Heroes, but this time went to XMB and then booted it. Frozen. Unplug, turn back on.

Run lvl2patch, it worked, booted Naughty Bears. Exit to XMB, booted it from there. Frozen.

    ---

So yeah, I'm at a loss. I've been trying to google the answers for this but I'm getting a lot of things discussing edited eboots for Geohots 3.55, not about backup managers. What am I doing wrong?

Does Wutangrza's firmware work better? Should I change to that? How would I clean my PS3 to get a fresh slate if I wanted to go over to Wutangrza's now.

Did you install the fix permissions pkg and run it before each game install?

No, this is the first time I have heard of it. By searching now, I can only find references to it, not to an actual place to download it or an explanation of what it is/does. Link? Also, is this different from what Rogero's BM asked to do for each game?

I find it odd that this is the first time I have heard of this. Does everyone do this, is it only done for games that need to be installed?

It's in the first page of Rogero's BM topic. Just try it out before FTPing or running a game.

From what I can see it is built into the backup manager and does the same thing that the backup manager itself does when it asks if you want to fix permissions.

Still curious as to what this needs to be done for, how it has helped people, what it actually does, etc.

I just went from 3.41 to Kmeaw's 3.55 firmware, and my old backups on my internal still work using the newest Gaia manager, maybe give that manager a try?

Backup Manager doesn't work. Gives an error, 80029519, which googling says it has something to do with the jailbreak/patch needing to be reapplied. I had done this, but whatever, restarted ps3, ran the lvl2patch, and booted gaia manager. Same error. Reinstalled lvl2patch, ran it, booted gaia, same error. Rebooted PS3, ran lvl2patch, booted gaia, same error. Christ.

What is your guys process to getting a game to work on this firmware? Do you move over the entire games, everything under the game id folder, do you only move over certain stuff, do you boot from disc, external, internal, etc. and HOW do you do each thing, etc. etc.

    edit:

Also, with fixpermissions, how does it work? I installed the package, ran it, and the TV ran through a few different video sources, and then XMB came up again. Did it work? Do the eboots have to be in a special directory to be fixed?

    Run Gaia BM
    Start Game
Agree to fix permission when the message pops up
    Back to XMB
Go to the disc icon and whatever game you loaded into backup manager will appear
    Game works.

    not all games boot up,

    ofw>kmeaw cfw>lv2.pkg>fixPermissions.pkg

i used backups of games found on the internet (which i own originals to) and ftp'ed them using MULTIMAN.

    so far no games work.

    except this:
ps3 game in drive (uncharted 2)
ftp Battlefield 2 backup using multiman
restarted ps3 then ran LV2 patcher & fix permissions
    opened Rogero Manager (backup manager)
looked for battlefield pressed x and yes on 'boot from xmb'
clicked on the uncharted 2 disc which was renamed to battlefield 2
updated & booted. can play online as well

i think its because most games found on torrents, usenets/nzb's ect are modified to run on 3.41.

i have yet to try to backup a disc game but my blu ray drive has problems. but i think backups which have not been pre modified will run fine, best thing to do is backup your own disc games and try. it should work

i have multiman installed, lv2 patcher, the permission fix, gaia manager and rogero manager.

Ex. first i run lv2 patcher. i installed nba jam (BLES01162), then i used PSP PS3 PKG Decrypter Extractor, and then i copied the entire BLES01162 folder from my computer to the PS3 using my USB flash drive, ran multiman and copied the files from USB to dev_hdd0/GAMES
went back to XMB and ran the permission fix, but i only see the gameid on gaia manager so i press X and it takes me back to XMB......... NOW WHAT?
can i get so friendly advice.
