Killzone 3-Run from external (help please!)
Killzone 3-Run from external (help please!) –
05-20-2011,07:29 PM
I've been reading and testing different suggestions for over 3 days now and can't figure it out!
I have seen ppl post that they have gotten the psarc method to work with kz3... Meaning the entire game is on the external harddrive.
Here's what I've tried
extracted the ps3_data.psarc
it outputs 5 or 6 different folders.. One of which is "ps3_data" which is an empty folder
I've tried copying all the folders, including the empty folder with original file name, all to the original location of the psarc file... Didn't work
I tried putting the folders into the "ps3_data" folder.. And put that into original directory.. Didn't work
I also tried renaming.. The folders it put out wer all "ps3_dataFOLDERNAME". So I tried removing the ps3_data part, still not working..
I finally put it on internal to play and it works perfect. But I really need to get it working from external, if possible.
I use MM 2.0 with bdemu installed and kmeaw cfw 3.55
If someone has gotten this to work externally with the psarc method, please advise how u setup the files/folder structure once extracted.
If psarc doesn't work w kz3, please advise how I can use iris or MM to load just the 9gb file internally... I've read every post about this and starting to think it just doesn't work w this game

I had KZ3 on my internal working fine. Updated MM to newest version. Installed BDEMU2. Transferred KZ3 to USB via MM. Deleted any previous game data from XMB. Started game in MM. Said OK to install to "internal cache". Plays great.
I use Split4g when I split files. It was written by Deank and works great with MM. Hope that helps.

Ok I'll try what u did for now, thanks!
When u say u upgraded to newest MM, do u mean 2.0 or the new 2.0.1 version that was just released? Wondering because i had it split and MM has not given the internal cache option when starting game..
Has anyone gotten the psarc extraction method to work on this game?

I meant 2.0.1. I think they key is using Split4g and MM together since Deank coded both.

Ok so I had mm transfer it to my external and split the files. Now when I go to play it it's installing the split file to internal cache. Will it keep the large file on the internal hdd, or will I have to install to cache everytime? Also, if it does stay on the internal permanently, is it ok to delete the split files from my external to free sum space up?

Ok I see it saves it internally permanently which is sweet. Now can I delete the split files From the external, or do they need to be there to recognize the file ?

Ellow,
Yes, you can delete the splitted files on the external HDD. No manager can read them anyways (to run the game splitted as is). So as long as the cache file/s is ok (you dont delete it, or it gets corrupt) your fine. Tested on Hermes manager (since im on Fw 3.41). Bouth managers use same hook so you should be ok. Allways keep the backup of a chache file just in case.
