Format the drive as FAT32 w/ fat32format, Gparted, Swiss Knife, or any other utility that allows to format large drives as FAT32. Then, depending on which BM you're using, you'll need to create a folder on the drive called GAMES, GAMEZ, or BDRIPS. One of those folders is where your backups will be stored. Check the configuration of your BM to see which one is needs (almost all of them are setup for GAMES or GAMEZ). And, yes, you can store whatever you want on there. FYI: No games that have a single file over 4gb can be stored on a FAT32 HDD (the game can be 40gb and not have any files over 4gb BTW.) Check PS Jailbreak Compatibility List - Home for a list of most of the games and whether they have big files or not.

I believe dev_usb/GAMES is the correct folder to backup to. Check the options.ini file (or default_options.ini) file that's in the MultiMan folder (you can find a complete explanation of the options.ini file, etc in the first 3-4 posts in the MultiMan thread).
