Internal PS3 HDD Permissions Problem
Internal PS3 HDD Permissions Problem –
I have Sims 3 installed on my Internal PS3 HDD after updating my managers yesterday when the wife went to play it, it had gone missing from the list.
No managers see it apart from Giia Manager and when it tries to run it it says there is a permissions problem with the eboot and tries to fix it.
The game tries to run but then fails saying it needs to install data. (It shouldnt the data is already installed.)
I was going to backup the disk again but as its already there it wont let me. I tried via FTP and I cant get inside the folder or remove it. I can only rename it. I cant even move it.
I have tried Simple File Manager, Awesome File Manager (both modes), and also tried changing permissions on the folder via flashFXP but that doesnt seem to work.
I also tried deleting the folder from another level up but that does not work either.
Please could somebody help, I cant afford to have so much space on my internal HDD wasted
if you don't already use it for ftp, blackb0x might help you there.
you could also try and let gaia delete it, and then manually delete the install folder and make certain you've got your users set up right, might just be the currently logged in user changed.
Hmmm....funny thing, I installed MultiMan for the first time yesterday and ran into the exact same problem. I have 5 games that are "missing" in MultiMan but visible in Gaia. Same permission problems!!
*sigh* People... PLEASE LEARN TO SEARCH! You could found your answer in SECONDS had you only have bothered to SEARCH. Hell, it would have taken you LESS time to SEARCH the forum than it would have to POST this thread.
Permission errors can be fixed thusly;
2. Stick it on USB
3. Install via "Install Packages"
4. Run. Wait patiently, the screen will turn black and your HDD will got nuts before dumping you back to XMB
5. DONE! All permissions will be fixed and all backup managers will be able to see your games, as well as activating Patch Mode for games that need it.
In the future, when you dump a game from BR or when you transfer via FTP, do so AFTER loading a Manager that has FTP built in and AFTER you have activated Patch Mode first. Then any games you transfer will automatically be transferred with full permissions.
