Hi Guys, After a little advice please.

Last time I uninstalled Backup Manager it deleted my GAMEZ folder and I had to re-rip my games.

I'm looking at installing Open Manager 1.3. How have you all done this safely. I understand it now looks in hdd0/Games for your backed up discs.

    1) Should I move my backups from hdd0/games/laun12345/gamez to hdd0/games. If so how?

    2) Will uninstalling different versions as they come out, ie OM1.4, OM1.5 risk deleting the games already backed up?

When i installed open manager 1.13 it installs along side the original backup manager, I then delete the orginal back-up manager which then removed all games. I guess renaming the folder would stop this, i believe with one of the homebrew apps its possible.

About installing updates to OM manager i don't know but fingers crossed it don't

I've posted this already somewhere else, but hear we go again...
The OBM can be un-installed and re-installed without problems.
But if you uninstall the official BM it also deletes the GAMEZ folder and everything inside, because it's part of the install (like a proggie on windows).

    You can prevent that:

    • 1. Use Comgenie's Awesome File Manager to rename your BM folder (LAUN12345, or whatever you use) to something else.
    • 2. Delete your Backup Manager.
    • 3. You will get an error that there's no access to the HD.
    • 4. Reboot your PS3 and the BM is gone

    Reinstall the BM:
    • 1. Use Comgenie's Awesome File Manager to rename the folder to the name of the folder the BM is gonna use, default it's LAUN12345. But if you use a stealth BM rename it accordingly.
    • 2. Now install the BM.
    • 3. You're ready to play

No need to delete and re-rip/copy your games all over...

Many thanks for the advice guys. Will give it a go shortly. So which open manager are you reckoning is the best? Was going to try Jurai's version. Seems to be getting quite good feedback.

Can we just overwrite BM with a new install of open backup manager?

the overwrite installation with BM1 and BM2 works well, and without loosing games.

Good instruction but I have one question:

If someone is the first time using the jailbreaking then someone should download Open Manager 1.13 instead of old manager.pkg, right ? Or get both ?

    The OPM 1.1.3 is enough.

    if anyone knows:

Can we just overwrite BM with a new install of open backup manager without loosing the games or rename the folder?

I run all my games off external so guess I have no need to worry about losing/deleting files when I uninstall/install various backup managers?
