a lot of CFW+backup-manager madness these days, but i prefer the patching of the EBOOT.BIN + resign to add it to the normal xbm. It works perfect.
Only thing i'm missing are update. As soon you download an update it stops working (logically).

How can i patch the update? I'll have to extract the pkg, de-crypt the eboot.bin, patch it, encrypt and repackage the stuff. Isn't this possible?
I could also apply the official patch and patch it after install..

Can't seem to find the (background)info.. someone needs to start a wiki to collect this kind of info..

Well, you cannot unself the EBOOT.BIN in the update .pkg unless you use chokolo's new decrypt tool on github. You can still unpkg it and get the contents and repackage with a debug eboot in similar version number that can be decrypted.
