How to backup PSN games via FTP? xregistry.sys?
How to backup PSN games via FTP? xregistry.sys? –
I've recently ran into some trouble with my current setup and want to start over from scratch (format the HD and start over from 3.55 OFW). However, I have many PSN games that I dont want to lose. I see the files in hdd0 folder so I can grab those no problem. Can I then just return them to this spot after I've gotten back up to 3.55 CFW? Or do I need to save some sort of registration info? I've searched around to try to find out how to do this safely but havent found anything. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I've found a bit of detail talking about activating the games by saving the xregistry.sys file. Ring a bell anyone?

If you have an external hard drive the easiest way would be to back up the PS3 contents via the actual back up tool on the PS3 and then format the hard drive, and restore the back up afterwards.
Right... but I dont want to backup the entire filesystem because I suspect that there is a problem (I've gone through many different iterations of file managers, etc). I want a fresh, pristine load... without losing my psn games.
You have to... I tried the act plus xregistry method and it doesn't work. I lost all my bought PSN content. I recently switched over to a 500 gb hard drive. I would HIGHLY advise you to buy an external drive and use the PS3 Backup Tool.
