GT5 Parcial Sound, Not 5.1 Surround related.
GT5 Parcial Sound, Not 5.1 Surround related. –

I have read through 6 pages of threads with a "GT5 No sound" search and none of them helped because they generally relate to 5.1 surround issues. Same with Google. So here it goes. I have had a backup copy of GT5 for almost a year now. When racing I got allot of flickering and at times the screen would flicker so bad you could not race effectively. So I decided to delete the game data and the backup and re-dump the game using the latest Multiman. (Also note that the game was updated to v1.07.) After the re-dump I started the game with the following issues. All sound works apart from my engine and tire sounds. However some of my cars do have sound, but mostly all the cars which now have no thumbnail preview in garage has no sound. All menu, race, replay BGM works including user BGM. I have even tried switching them all off and only leaving the race sound effects on. I have tried changing the PS3 sound settings to others but GT5 only detects the PS3 "Linear 2ch 48 KHz" setting which the PS3 always defaults to and wont allow you to deselect them. I am not using 5.1 surround. My PS3 sends sound to my TV using HDMI and then the TV uses a component cable to send sound to a 2 channel Hi-Fi. GT5 "Dynamic range" is set to "living Room". I have tried setting the PS3 to Multi-Out using the HDMI to send video to the TV and a component cable connected to the PS3 sending audio straight to the Hi-Fi. FAIL & FAIL. All my other backups work fine. But here is the kicker. I deleted game data, deleted the backup & Restored PS3 Databases. Pop the original CD in and run CD only, install entire +-8GB game data and still the sound issues remain. Could it be related to some GT5 update files on the PS3? And even the original game is still flickering when playing. My DB-Drive has probably had about 5 hours of full usage and the system is almost a year old. I am running CFW 3.55, Kmeaw. All I can say is WTF. Any help would be appreciated.

There will be a problem about games options so creat another user and try with this user, if it fix its about your save data (in game sound setting)

I keep reading that it has nothing to do with the save data but I guess others could be wrong. Or 1.) I need to update the game back to v1.07 due to some game options been missing now that the game has reverted to it's original state. I did want to try the other user method but since I removed the game data which removed the updates I was unable to copy the save file. (Copy protected) But perhaps you are right. 2.) Try a new user with it's own new save file to eliminate my save file. I do have two different backups of my save file though. So I guess I will remove the game data (+-8GB), backup the game (Multiman), update the game back to v1.07 and create new user and see if the problem persists. If it works use my newest save file backup in my user profile and try again. If not try the older backup and prey it works. I had to wait since all my backups (Save files & Update files) are on my work PC. And thanks for the reply. I will try the above when I get home.

Solution found. All I had to do was update GT5 to the same update version I previously had and all sound now works. So basically the updates do affect your save data. Update: I tried updating past v1.07 yesterday, first v1.08 and then I get a "Insufficient space on hard drive disk (HDD), minimum 32MB space required, free up space..." error when the game is booting, I am then forced to exit to XMB, delete game data and update too v1.07 to get it working again. I might have a bad download, so I will re-download v1.08 & v1.09 today and test on the weekend.
