I have mine updated without any issue. As for safe to play online with cfw that's still under speculation but better to assume as no and that it should be understood that there is always a risk involved. I guess if you've already gone and done it you should just go all out and play online.

I assume for those playing online still they are running CFW 3.55 and forcing access by using edited proxy / DNS settings.

Surely, this is going to stand out anyway, what other reason is there to be using these DNS servers that have been published all over the net for this purpose?

As soon as 3.56 went live, I pulled the ethernet cable from my ps3, ok, I took the risk when it was still 3.55, but at least I was connecting "normally" and making the effort not to stand out..

Those that are using these DNS servers in my mind, are simply asking for a ban, unless of course Ive missed something very obvious that is a legitimate reason for using them?

As for the update, I dont that before 3.56, but I also understand you can download them onto your pc, and ftp them, or usb them to your ps3 for "safer" updating.

Still, if its for use with online, I "think" your taking a bigger risk than you should be by going on with a FW, custom or legit, that doesnt match the latest that is released.

This is all new to me, so correct me if im completely wrong, just seems logical to me.

For legit it should be fine, proxies/dns have been used since earlier firmware versions and nobody has been banned for it. On the other hand if you're using cfw that may be a different story altogether. Still have to wait and see what sony's approach is to those on cfw.

yes, Im aware your talking about the game update.

But Im also aware that sony have released OFW 3.56, so anyone going online now using 3.55 OFW or CFW are surely going to stand out like a sore thumb, ok you could argue that yours is legit, (provided they cannot detect CFW....) and you have another valid reason for using that DNS??

    Thats what im interested in...

Im just trying to point out that "to me" going online with the wrong FW version is like waving your hands shouting "look at me"..

perhaps you mean lets play until it no longer works? then you go out and buy a new PS3?

Its your console my friend, and your money, ill wait until CFW 3.56 is released and a "little" bit safer to risk.
